Following on from the success of Less Miserable the Pantuesical (see clips on Youtube) I am writing a new pantomime based on Gaston Leroux's tale of the Phantom of the Opera.
This adaptation will feature music from two sources; Gilbert & Sullivan and Puccini. The phantom will sing songs to the music of Puccini using the famous ballads including, Nessun Dorma (I'm the Phantom ...) and Oh! mio babbino caro (Oh, my Christine, I love you ...). The other characters and chorus will sing songs from G & S operettas.
Carlotta will be the Dame character with the ex-owners playing the straight man and fool double-act. Madam Giry is a mystery woman who knows more than she lets on. Christine and Raoul are the love interest with the Phantom as the villan. Carlotta's daughter will play alongside Christine and will fall for the new owner of the opera house. The musical director will be frustrated at every turn by the new owner who, like the Arts Council will be making cuts at every opportunity!
Finally, the Phantom will always speak in rhyme whilkst the rest of the cast don't.
And so it begins...
